Efficient synchronous motor control with CAN-BUS, STO safety and integrated power supply

The project objective was the highly dynamic torque control of a permanently excited synchronous motor in fitness equipment for circuit training (e.g. rowing trainers, back trainers, etc.).
The frequency inverter has a CAN-BUS interface, an STO function (Safe Torque Off), an onboard 24 V/3 A switching power supply for supplying external electronics and also offers connection options for a braking resistor.

  • Knestel Resistance Control based on Direct Torque Control (DTC) instead of field-oriented control of the motor currents
  • High torque dynamics (direct control of the torque without detour via the torque-forming current)

  • Applications in connection with permanent magnet synchronous motors (PMSM), asynchronous motors (ASM) and reluctance motors (e.g. electromobility)
